Ceramics Department Instructor Paige Wright in New Exhibition
OCAC Ceramics Department instructor Paige Wright is presenting new work in a two person exhibition, ZONE IN, with fellow ceramics artist Natasha Dikareva.
The ceramic figure brings together two west coast communities by sharing ideas of environmental response, ranging from biological concerns to identity explorations. Traditional clay techniques, such as anatomical rendering and multi-layered surface treatment give the artists opportunities to reflect upon their own origins and the possible future paths of their individual lives and humanity as a collective. Keeping one foot in tradition and the other in the visual symbols of our time, both artists straddle a spider web of conversations, helping us to continually rethink and develop our community.
Paige was born and raised in Portland, Oregon where she currently lives and keeps her studio. Her BFA is from the University of Montana, Missoula in 2006 and Her MFA is from Ohio University in Athens Ohio. She has participated in several Artist-in-Residency programs including Project Network at Guldagergaard International Ceramic Research Center.
Born and raised in Kiev, Ukraine, Natasha Dikareva lives and works in San Francisco. She received her BFA from the Kiev State Academy of Art and Design and her MFA from the University of Minnesota. Her work is featured in various publications, including 500 Prints on Clay and New Ceramics European magazine, and is held in public and private collections. She exhibits locally and internationally.
