Professor Emeritus Thomas Orr Awarded NCECA Regional Award of Excellence

Thomas Orr, Professor Emeritus at OCAC, has been chosen to receive a Regional Award of Excellence from the National Council for Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA). The award is presented to artists for extraordinary work emerging from the conference region to impact ceramic art, artists and learning.

In 1995, Thomas joined Oregon College of Art and Craft to head the Ceramics program and continued to work at the school until 2013, when he was awarded emeritus status. In addition to his active studio practice, Thomas and his wife Joanna have established the Ash Street Project Emerging Artist Mentorship Program and continue to work with ceramic artists from all over the country.
